April Pastor's Note

Spring has sprung. In fact, it completely sprang up on me. The awareness that “spring is still happening” inspired the Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber to compile a list of things that are “still happening” in spite of all that is being taken away, and invite her readers to contribute. Her blog post can be found here: https://open.substack.com/pub/thecorners/p/a-useful-list-of-what-is-still-happening?r=1ntqcw&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email

These are not easy days (understatement), and such times are often marked by disorientation. When everything feels up in the air, grounding ourselves becomes more important. This question is a practice in grounding and gratitude.

Following Nadia’s example, I invite you to name the good things in your life and orbit that are still happening. We’ll post these on the bulletin board outside of the library, and invite participants in the Centering Space retreat to add to the list.

Here are a few of mine:

  • Bedtime snuggles are still happening.

  • Stained glass work is still happening.

  • Therapy is still happening.

  • Legos are still happening.

  • Our annual visit to Opa’s house is still happening.

  • Exercise endorphins are still happening.

  • Improv is still happening.

  • Choir concerts are still happening.

  • Hyacinths are still happening.

What good things are still happening in your life?

Grace and peace,

Stephanie
