In this month’s Nous, you will read a few updates on Haresh, Hamitha, and our continued support of their work. In lieu of my usual pastor’s note, I invite you to read more from Haresh directly. As we enter the season of Pentecost, it is especially appropriate to celebrate this global, Spirit-led connection!
Grace and peace,
Stephanie
“My name is Haresh Nag. I am from a small town called Nabarangpur, the state of Odisha, India. I am born and brought up in a nominal Christian family. Although I am born in Christian family I did not have any Christian activities in my life. I disobeyed to my parents and disobeyed to God as well. I went so astray from God.
But God did not leave me. He showed His grace and mercy upon me. In the year 2000, I went to attend a congregational gathering near by my place. God spoke to me from Ecclesiastes 12:1, and I had great experience to know Jesus. God worked in my heart and life. I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour at that place. I am so grateful to God for His unmerited favour upon me.
By the grace of God through faith I came to know Jesus. After this amazing grace of God I felt peace and joy in my life and began to spend time with the Lord by reading the scripture and spending time in prayer.
I had a great desire to learn the word of God and I got an opportunity to do the theological study. In the year 2002, I went for doing theological studies. I completed the Bachelor of Theology in 2005. Since then I am serving in the community.
In the year 2011, I got married to Hamitha. We are blessed with two beautiful daughters. The elder daughter is Harshita Nag, was born on 20th June,2013 (12 years) and younger daughter is Hazel Rani Nag, was born on 6th January,2018 (8years). I am so thankful to God for my family and grateful to Him for using me and my family to serve the orphans and the community.
My ambitions:
I thank God for the privilege to serve among the orphans children. Me and Hamitha would like to continue to serve the orphans. We would love to take care of these precious children completely because they are helpless and hopeless. At the beginning we would rent a building and keep all these children and look after them. In future when God provide the way we would love to purchase a small piece of land where we can construct our own building for the orphans. We love to bring smiles in their face, provide them good care with food, clothing, education and help them build their bright future.
We would continue to serve among the community. We would love to work with God for justice, peace, and love in the community. Serve the poor and marginalised people, providing safe and clean drinking water to the community. Also we have desire to do the church planting work in different places among the community. It would be mainly house churches as the Trinity Presbyterian church also focus on planting house churches and I am very much inspired to do accordingly.
When did you first find us online? Summer of 2020?
Yes for the first time I found Trinity during the summer of 2020. It was during Covid Pandemic.
It was not intentionally but truly I believe that it was God’s purpose for me as I came across watching the Trinity church service online.
As we began to watch the service online regularly, we felt so welcoming. Later I had an opportunity to connect with dear Pastor Stephanie in Facebook messenger. It was great encouragement for us. After a while I came to know about Rev. Gwen Carr who also played an important role in our life in connecting deeper with the Trinity church family. And now so glad to connect with dear Sir Mark who is great blessing for the mission in India. We are so thankful to each and every one of Trinity congregation who are our friends and praying for us and the work in India.
Why you continued with us?
Since I started joining the service I along with my wife felt peace and joy in our life during the Pandemic. We needed the encouragement and we received that through attending the church online. Each week the sermon was and is so powerful, profound and most importantly so personal. It speak directly to our heart, helping us navigate life’s challenges with a renewed perspective. The worship is powerful and reminds us that even though we may be watching from different locations, we are all united in Christ.
The reasons why we continued is that it has truly been life-changing for me and my family . It has given us a place to stay connected, no matter where we are. Whether we are at home, traveling, or just needing encouragement in our daily life, it helps us to grow in Jesus.
Another reason is the sense of community. Even though we’re not physically in the same room, we’ve felt connected to a family of believers who uplift and encourage one another. Whether it’s through online discussions, prayer requests, or just knowing that others are worshiping alongside me, it has made a difference in my Christian journey.
This isn’t just a service we watch, it has now become our home church. It has helped us grow, given us hope, and strengthened our relationship with God in ways we never expected. We are so thankful to God for the privilege to be part of the Trinity church family.
Project name?
I and Hamitha prayed about the name of the project. There are so many name came into our thought, but we prayerfully decided to keep the name of the project called “Nabarangpur Mercy House.”
